Grizzly Youth Football, consisting of fourth grade to eighth grade students, will be washing cars this Saturday. The student players are from Eagle Rock Middle School, Eagle Rock Elementary, Fox Hollow Elementary, Ethel Boyes Elementary, Westside Elemenatary, A.H. Bush Elementary and Templeview Elementary.
“I’m hoping that the turnout is going to be really big and that we can raise money for them,” organizer Heather Anderson said.
All proceeds from the event will go toward the victims affected in Monday’s car crash at the intersection of 45th West and 17th South in Idaho Falls. Officials continue to investigate the two-vehicle crash. Ivy Vigliotti, 15, Asher Strubel, 15, and another 15-year-old were a in 1995 Geo Tracker that collided with a 2005 Chevy Tahoe being driven by 31-year-old Brittney Jamesen.
Ivy and Asher died at the scene. The 15-year-old, whose name has not been released, and Jamesen were rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Jamesen, who was pregnant, lost her unborn child as a result of the crash.
The car wash will be held at Rocknak’s Hardware Plus at 2250 W Broadway Street in Idaho Falls. It will begin at 10 a.m. and go until 2 p.m. Anderson said they may even go past 2 p.m. depending on how many cars show up.
Organizers are asking for a $5 minimum per car.
“I think as a kid and a teenager, when stuff like this happens you don’t know what to do,” Anderson said. “I think the boys are all really excited to do something and give back to their friend’s families.”
