ISP investigating fatal crash near Jerome

The following is a news release from the Idaho State Police.
JEROME — Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on eastbound Interstate 84.
The accident occurred at about 9 p.m. Saturday near milepost 163 in Jerome County.
Jami I. Jennings, 35, of Twin Falls, was driving eastbound on Interstate 84 in a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox when she struck an object in the roadway. Jennings’ vehicle became disabled, coming to rest partially in the left lane of travel. Jennings and her passengers, Robert P. Jennings, 37, of Twin Falls, ID, and two minor children were seat belted before exiting the vehicle. All occupants from Jennings’ vehicle were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.
Cody R. Mays, 24, of Jerome was driving eastbound on Interstate 84 in a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup in the left lane when he struck Jennings’ unoccupied Equinox. Mays’ pickup overturned coming to rest on its wheels in the median. Mays was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Mays’ passengers, Maikayla C. Townsley, 19, of Hagerman and Tyson C. Baumann, 25, of Twin Falls were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls. None of the occupants in Mays’ vehicle were wearing seat belts.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of travel had varying degrees of blockage for approximately three hours.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Jerome County Sheriff’s Office and Jerome Police Department.
