BLACKFOOT — The body of a Blackfoot mother missing for over two weeks was discovered by a person walking along the Snake River Monday, according to Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland.

Kelley Haney, 37, was located approximately six miles downstream from the Rose Ponds around 1 p.m. Rowland says the name of the person who found her will not be released as the individual wants to remain anonymous.

A preliminary autopsy shows Haney died from drowning, according to Rowland, and the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office will now wait for the entire autopsy report to be completed. It’s unclear how Haney ended up in the Snake River.

Haney disappeared on May 11. Her husband had tracked her phone to the Rose Ponds area where her vehicle, keys and phone were found. Investigators have been searching the surrounding region ever since.

The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office thanks all volunteers who helped look for Kelley and says no further information will be released until the final autopsy is completed.
