Woman accused of aiding murder suspect pleads not guilty

IDAHO FALLS — A trial date has been scheduled for a woman accused of leaving town with a murder suspect she was romantically involved with.

Deena Aday is charged with accessory to a felony, which is itself a felony. Aday, who is out of jail and supervised on pretrial release, appeared in a Bonneville County courtroom on Tuesday with her husband for an arraignment hearing.

During the hearing, Aday pleaded not guilty to the felony charge. She faces up to five years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Seventh District Judge Bruce Picket scheduled a jury trial for late September.

Aday waived a preliminary hearing earlier this month.

She is accused of aiding Jeremy White, the defendant in the murder case of his long-time girlfriend Christin Caldwell, during his flight from police.

White and Aday fled Idaho in mid-November following the death of Caldwell. A nationwide manhunt ensued before the pair were arrested on Nov. 25 in Pahrump, Nevada.

The pair were later transported back to Bonneville County after waiving extradition.

Aday continues to cooperate with prosecutors in White’s case, according to Bonneville County Prosecutor Danny Clark.
