Crews on scene of massive house fire in Menan
Published at | Updated atMENAN — Crews are on the scene of a massive house fire in the Menan area.
The home is at 9138 Outlaw Pass on one of the buttes. Officials say the fire started in the kitchen around 7:30 p.m., and the house appears to be a complete loss.
The heat from the house was intense. Neighbors were hosing down the lawn to keep the fire from spreading. One firefighter had to be treated for heat exhaustion.
Agencies from both Jefferson and Madison counties are at the house. Although it is in Madison County, the house is in Central Fire District.
The inhabitants of the house were not hurt, fire officials tell EastIdahoNews.com.
The smoke was visible for miles around.
The fire appears to be in control. Firefighters tell EastIdahoNews.com they will be at the house all night to watch for hot spots.
