Pocatello/Chubbuck School Dist.25 changes first day of school due to eclipse

The following is a news release from the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25.
POCATELLO – The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25 Board of Trustees took action in a special meeting on June 26th to revise the 2017-2018 school calendar.
The action was taken as a precaution based on the expected influx of people to the area for viewing the historic eclipse on Monday, August 21st.
Therefore, the first day of school will be delayed until Wednesday, August 23rd.
Changes in the calendar are as follows:
• Monday, August 21st will be a noncontract day for staff
• Tuesday, August 22nd will be a contract day for staff but students will still be out of school
• Wednesday, August 23rd will be the first day of school
• Wednesday, December 20th will be a contract day for staff and school will be in session to make up
for the extra day off at the beginning of the school year.
