The fire started Saturday and burned 30 acres near the Menan Butte Trailhead off Twin Butte Road. It was contained that night, but reignited on Sunday afternoon due to erratic winds and spread to 238 acres.
Firefighters from multiple federal and local agencies worked through the weekend through Tuesday to contain the blaze. As of 6 p.m. Monday, the fire was out, but a number of hot spots remained.

BLM fire officials say the cause of the blaze appears to be fireworks illegally being fired on federal land.
