Police release further details on I-15 crash that sent one man to hospital

UPDATE 5:45 p.m.

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police:

On Saturday, July 1, at approximately 12:26 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on I-15 at milepost 81, near Fort Hall.

Gary Frongner, 63, of Shelley, was traveling southbound, in a 2002 Chevy Avalanche, when he lost control, went off the left shoulder, and rolled. The vehicle came to rest on its side in the northbound lanes.

Frongner was wearing his seatbelt and was transported by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID. The lanes were blocked for approximately one hour.

This crash in under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

FORT HALL — A crash on Interstate 15 between exit 80 and exit 89 caused major delays for travelers Saturday afternoon.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes but caused backups for miles in both directions as a medical helicopter landed to take injured victims to the hospital.

Very few details are available but traffic has started to move again.
