Freezing temperatures forecast in eastern Idaho this weekend
Published atIDAHO FALLS — The National Weather Service says parts of eastern Idaho will continue to get snow today, while other areas will see freezing temperatures and frost this weekend.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Friday for the following counties: Lemhi, Butte, Custer, Fremont, Madison, Teton and Clark. ost of the snow will keep to the mountains — with between 2 to 6 inches expected above 6,500 feet, according to NWS.
The mountainous areas in central and eastern Idaho and western Wyoming have received periodic snow throughout the last week.
A special weather statement has been issued for most of the Upper and Lower Snake River Plain. Overnight lows are forecast to fall into the mid-30s Friday and Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Depending on the amount of clearing skies and duration of clearing skies, temperatures could fall even lower to near or below freezing. Officials advise residents take steps to protect sensitive vegetation from potentially freezing.
