Strong wind forecast Tuesday evening until 8 p.m.
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in the Upper Snake River Plain.
Idaho Falls, Rexburg and the surrounding area can expect winds of between 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph throughout Tuesday afternoon.
The wind advisory expires at 8 p.m.
NWS officials advise the strong southwest winds will make travel difficult at times along U.S. Highways 20, 26, and 93 through early evening.
Snow is also forecast in the Challis, Mackay, Arco area due to a fall storm system through Thursday. Snow levels are forecast to drop to near valley floors, but major accumulations should remain above 6,000 feet elevation.
Snow totals tonight through Thursday night are forecast to range from 2 to 6 inches, though areas above 8,500 feet could see accumulations between 6 and 12 inches.
