BASALT — Two cars were reported stolen Tuesday in Bingham County.

“I believe it’s the same suspect,” Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland told EastIdahoNews.com.

The Bingham County Sheriff’s office reports an unknown suspect stole a black Mazada 3 and then moments later stole a red 2007 Chevrolet around 7 a.m.

The Mazda was taken from 699 East 800 North. Officers recovered the car north of its original location at 1030 East 1100 North where the vehicle was abandoned.

“He got out of one and got into another one and we don’t have a suspect,” Rowland said.

The second vehicle, a red Chevrolet, was stolen in relatively the same area where the Mazda was abandoned at 1054 East 1100 North.

The Bingham County Sheriff’s office is still investigating.

Anyone with information on the theft is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at (208) 785-4440.
