Strong wind advisory issued in eastern Idaho
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — The National Weather Service has issued a strong wind advisory for most of eastern Idaho on Friday.
Weather officials are predicting southwest winds in excess of 30 to 40 mph with gusts of up to 55 mph.
Blowing dust is possible near recently plowed fields, especially along Interstate 15 from Idaho Falls to Roberts. Winds are expected to subside by 9 p.m. this evening, according to NWS officials.
Other problem areas are Interstate 86 from Burley to Pocatello and Interstate 15 from Pocatello north to Idaho Falls and Dubois.
Very strong cross winds will affect U.S. Highway 20 from Idaho Falls to Arco, and U.S. 26 from BlackFoot to Atomic City.
A hazardous weather warning has also been issued for central Idaho due to gusty winds and rain and snow.
