POCATELLO — More than 1,000 turkeys made their way through the streets of Pocatello on Saturday.

Dozens of bike riders cycled their way through town helping to deliver Thanksgiving birds to the Idaho Food Bank.

It all started at Barrie’s Ski & Sports, where they held their 6th annual ‘Cranksgiving’ event. Cranksgiving is a philanthropic effort to help feed needy southeast Idaho families during the holidays.

And they broke a record this year, with the most turkeys collected since the event began. They not only met their 1,000 turkey goal this year, but they surpassed it with one 1,096 turkeys.

They also raised over $11,000 in donations. During the event, Idaho Central Credit Union was there to donate a check for $2,500

Some riders say they haven’t missed a year yet and it’s a great way to get out and support the community.

“We decided to get here and help with ‘Cranksgiving’ and raise turkeys for the food bank. It’s just a great cause and a lot of fun to get together as a community and give back,” cyclist Ace Call of Pocatello said.

Some 50 riders participated in the ‘Cranksgiving’ event.
