Jefferson County teen killed in rollover crash

CAREY — A Roberts teen was killed Wednesday following a single vehicle rollover crash in Blaine County.

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police and local EMS personal responded to the crash on U.S. Highway 26/93 near mile marker 196 at about 1:30 p.m.

Police reports show authorities found a silver Isuzu Ascender that had left the roadway and rolled multiple times, according to a Blaine County Sheriff news release. Authorities believe the vehicle was traveling south at the time of the accident, speed may have been a factor, and seat belts were not in use.

The driver, later determined to be 17-year-old Roberto C Gonzales-Reyes of Roberts was ejected from the vehicle. Gonzales-Reyes was found in sage brush and rocks. He was
declared dead at the scene.

A passenger, 17-year-old Juan P. Garcia Flores also of Roberts remained in the vehicle during the crash. Garcia Flores was transported by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello for treatment. He is reported to be in stable condition.
