IDAHO FALLS — Idaho State Police are continuing their drive for coats and toys that can be given to children in need this holiday season.

Troopers will be at Broadway Ford at 980 W Broadway Street in Idaho Falls Saturday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m as part of their Coats 4 Kids.

People are invited to drop off new or slightly used coats, new unwrapped toys or purchase a $15 food bag or $10 coupon for a ham or turkey from Broulims.

Sgt. Blake Higley told EastIdahoNews.com this is part of their 10 counties 12 days of Christmas. He said they hope to collect as many donations as possible for needy families throughout 10 eastern Idaho counties.

“This is our first time working with businesses on a food and clothing drive so we’re hoping for some tremendous success,” Higley said.

ISP Lt. Chris Weadick said they are working with local Idaho State Police officers to find needy families in their communities.

If they end up excess donations, items will be given to places like The Haven Temporary Shelter in Idaho Falls.
