REXBURG — A Fort Hall woman who died after slamming into a truck being driven by Clark County Sheriff Bart May was three times over the legal blood alcohol level limit, according to May.

Malana Moemberg, 21, of Fort Hall, was westbound on SH-33 Saturday morning around 5:30 a.m. when investigators say she crossed the center line and crashed into May’s marked patrol truck. May was taken by ambulance to Madison Memorial Hospital and Moemberg was pronounced dead at the scene.

May, who was on his way to the Shop with a Cop event in Rexburg, posted a message on Facebook saying he was thankful Moemberg hit his diesel truck rather than another vehicle. He also reminded people not to drink and drive.

His unedited message reads:

As the Christmas Holiday season comes upon us, lets all remember to not drink and drive. The other driver that hit me was more than 3 times over the legal limit. Im just thankful that she hit me in that big diesel truck and not another vehicle.

Because of this persons choice to drink and drive, there is a familly that is counting their blessings and a familly that is mourning the loss of their daughter/loved one. Im just so thankful I still get to be a husband, father and soon a grandfather. Please pray for her familly and lets all remember to NOT drink and drive.
