WEATHER & ROADS: Snowfall today and more freezing fog

  Published at  | Updated at

IDAHO FALLS — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in southern Montana and in Lemhi County for Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Officials say several inches of snow are expected, particularly in the mountain passes, until at least 2 p.m. The snow is expected to create slippery road conditions and reduce visibility.

Air stagnation remains an issue across Idaho and Utah and freezing fog is expected during the night in nearly all of eastern Idaho.

An air quality advisory remains in effect in Franklin County due to elevated pollutant levels in the air. A stable atmosphere with little wind is preventing pollutants from drifting outside the area. As a result, residential wood burning restrictions have been put in place inside the county until at least noon Thursday.

Individuals with inherent sensitivity to increased particulate levels are encouraged to avoid prolonged physical exertion outside. At these levels there is an increasing likelihood of respiratory symptoms and increased aggravation of asthma and/or lung ailments, according to NWS officials.

A heavy fog advisory is also in effect in central Idaho due to the stable atmosphere and little wind.
