Officials release name of man killed in snowmobile crash

ISLAND PARK — A North Dakota man was killed after hitting a tree while riding a snowmobile in Island Park Saturday.
Wayne Halverson, 32, was traveling from Last Chance to Pond’s Lodge when the crash occurred, according to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office. Riders who were with him performed CPR until Fremont County EMTs arrived.
Efforts to revive Halverson failed and he was pronounced dead at 8:27 p.m.
This is the second serious snowmobile crash in Island Park over the past week. On Tuesday, Feb. 20 a woman was airlifted to the hospital after hitting a rock while snowmobiling near Henry’s Lake.
