The following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.

POCATELLO – The Pocatello Fire Department and Southeastern Idaho Public Health are teaming up in the fight against the flu.

Thursday, February 22, from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center, 427 N. 6th Avenue, the two groups will provide free flu shots on a first come, first served basis to the public. Recently, the Pocatello Fire Department received a $1,000 donation from Albertsons and firefighters made the decision to inject the money back into the community. SIPH will be providing the shots at no charge after the department’s $1,000 is exhausted.

“As Emergency Medical Service providers, we have seen how the flu has impacted our community and want to do something to help,” said Kim Stouse, Community Education/Relations Specialist with the Pocatello Fire Department.

“The flu is widespread across Idaho and will likely last until spring,” said Tracy McCulloch, Community Health Director with SIPH. “To protect you and your family from the flu, your best defense is the flu shot.”
