Teen flown to Boise hospital after falling asleep, rolling car

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

RIGGINS — On Feb. 12, at approximately 7:15 p.m., an injury crash occurred on US 95 at milepost 191.7 near Riggins.

A gold 2001 Chevrolet Malibu, being driven by a 17-year-old juvenile, was traveling southbound when the driver apparently fell asleep and drove off the west side of the road, striking boulders. The vehicle flipped multiple times, coming to rest on its top in the roadway.

The driver was transported by ground EMS to St. Luke’s McCall Medical Center, then flown by air ambulance to St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center in stable condition. The driver was wearing a seatbelt. There were no other occupants.
