Teen snowmobiler gets stuck, walks several miles to safety
Published atLOGAN — A teenager was reunited with his family after his snowmobile became stuck in a hole, forcing him to walk several miles to safety, officials said Monday night.
At around 5 p.m., emergency crews responded to a missing snowmobiler report in the Swan Flats area of Logan Canyon, Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke said in an emailed statement.
Locke said a 15-year-old was separated from his family while snowmobiling and had been missing for about 2 1/2 hours, according to KSL.com. The juvenile was located by a separate group of snowmobilers who brought him to a search and rescue command post, the statement said.
The teenager told officials that he had become separated from his group, then his snowmobile got stuck in a hole and he was unable to get it out, Locke said. The teenager said he walked about 2-3 miles back to where he was found.
No injuries were reported and the teenager was reunited with his family, Locke said.
