IDAHO FALLS — Two men armed with knives were arrested early Friday morning after an argument in the 1300 block of Suzanne Avenue.

Idaho Falls Police officers and Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about two men arguing in a front yard.

When they arrived, police found Anthony Raymond Orona, 21, and Joseph Hector Avilez, 18. No weapons were drawn, but officers noticed one of the men was in possession of a long serrated hunting knife. They yelled for him to drop the knife, according to Idaho Falls Police spokeswoman Holly Cook.

The men briefly scuffled on the ground and officers discovered the other man also had a knife, which officers were able to kick away.

The men, who police say were intoxicated, tried to run away in different directions, but were apprehended by officers.

Both were booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

Oran has been charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, disturbing the peace and resisting or obstructing officers.

Avilez was charged with misdemeanor with resisting or obstructing officers.

Idaho Falls Police took prescription medication, the hunting knife and a folding knife (which had several blades) into evidence.
