Woman killed, 2 injured after rollover crash on I-15

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

MALAD — On Feb. 16, at approximately 4:56 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle fatality crash southbound on I-15 near milepost 17, north of Malad City, in Oneida County.

Kylie R. Smoot, 21, of North Salt Lake, Utah was driving a 2013 Honda CRV southbound on I-15. The vehicle went off the left shoulder of the roadway, came back on the interstate, rolled and came to rest on the right shoulder.

Smoot and her passenger, Abbey Thompson, 20, of Sagle, Idaho were transported via ground ambulance to Oneida County Hospital in Malad City. Smoot’s other passenger, Lisa K. Huband, 21, of New River, Arizona succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

The right southbound lane was blocked for approximately an hour.

Idaho State Police was assisted by Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and Oneida Ambulance.
