The following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.

POCATELLO – Pocatello Animal Services has a new leader.

At Thursday’s Pocatello City Council meeting, council members confirmed Mayor Brian Blad’s appointment of Danielle Garcia to the director post.

Prior to her appointment, Danielle had been the Pocatello Animal Shelter Manager. As Shelter Manager, she was tasked with managing the shelter’s day-to-day operations, overseeing the budget, and facilitating pet adoptions.

“During the interview process, Danielle rose to the top,” said Mayor Brian Blad. “Danielle has an impressive vision for the department as we move into the future.”

“I am looking forward to serving the citizens of our great city and being a voice for the animals in our community,” said Danielle.

With her confirmation by the council, Danielle takes on the director role immediately and she is planning to hit the ground running.

“Looking ahead, I would like to re-tool our volunteer program,” said Danielle. “Specifically, I’d like to see the program’s orientation period move online and allow people to be able to do this portion on their own time. Also, I’d like to expand our spay/neuter program as well as add more community events.”

Danielle and her husband, Jesse, have lived in Pocatello for 10 years. They have one son, Trenton, and enjoy camping, fishing, and travelling.
