Man arrested near Utah-Wyoming border after chase reaches triple-digit speeds

EVANSTON, Wyoming — A man was arrested near the Utah-Wyoming border Friday after police say he led them on a chase that reached triple-digit speeds.

Lucas M. Odle, 25, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on a peace officer, eluding, reckless driving, driving under suspension and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, according to a Facebook post from Uinta County (Wyoming) law enforcement officials.

Odle also had a felony warrant from South Dakota.

Utah officials reported that a grey Chrysler 300 had been driving at more than 100 mph on I-80 at about 10:40 a.m. Friday.

Utah police officers then lost sight of the car and informed Uinta County authorities the car might be headed toward the Chalk Creek area in Summit County, Utah.

Uinta County Sheriff Doug Matthews then found the driver on Uinta County Road 151 southwest of Evanston. The driver led Matthews on a chase on Yellow Creek Road/County Road 151 that reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour, officials said.

Authorities tried to stop the car with tire spikes as it traveled through Evanston, but the spikes were not successful, officials said. The driver then began traveling on Highway 150, again reaching triple-digit speeds.

Eventually, the chase ended when the car rammed a sheriff’s office vehicle and then crashed into a loading dock, officials said.

Odle got out of the car and tried to run away, but sheriff’s deputies arrested him after a short foot chase, officials said. He was the only person in the car.
