Ammon to recognize Citizen of the Year, other mayoral awards

The following is a news release from the city of Ammon.

AMMON — On June 19, Mayor Sean Coletti will present three Mayor’s Community Service Awards and one Citizen of the Year award to members of our community at a special reception at 6:00 p.m. at the city building located at 2135 S. Ammon Rd. with the reception being sponsored by Citizens Community Bank. The public is invited to attend, and refreshments will be served.

After receiving nominations from the public, the following individuals have been chosen as the recipients for the 2018 service awards:

Citizen of the Year – Andy Weller

Andy Weller will be presented with the Citizen of the Year award for his positive impact on our community. As a teacher at Hillview Elementary, Andy’s impact on Ammon students is significant. As a community member, his contributions to efforts at McCowin Park and to community enhancement events have been significant.

Mayor’s Community Service Award Recipients- Brett & Shelly Yorgesen

The Yorgesens will be presented with a Mayor’s Community Service Award for their service to our community. The Yorgesens are being recognized for their great efforts through the “Operation Christmas Magic” program each year, where they make a significant impact on the lives of our local families.

Mayor’s Community Service Award Recipient- Kevin Casper

Kevin Casper will be presented with a Mayor’s Community Service Award for his service to our community. As a Lieutenant with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin is being recognized for his continuous dedication to the City of Ammon’s safety and well-being over many years.

Mayor’s Community Service Award Recipient- LaTisha Wammack

LaTisha Wammack will be presented with a Mayor’s Community Service Award for her service to our community. LaTisha is being recognized for her continued dedication in difficult times to the youth in our community at the elementary and junior high schools and through other community organizations.
