JC Cloney allowed only 1 run in 6.2 innings, to win his 8th of the season as the Idaho Falls Chukars scored 4 runs in the Top of the 9th to win 7-1 over the Orem Owlz on Monday night.

Cloney allowed 4 hits and walked a season high 3 batters in the win. Cloney buckled down with clutch situations as the Owlz went 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position. JC threw a season high 99 pitches with 60 coming for a strike. Cloney is now 8-0 with a 2.16 ERA on the season.

Offensively, the final nail in the Orem coffin was delivered by Reed Rohlman, who hit a 3 RBI double in the top of the 9th inning with the Chukars leading 4-1. That double was the 2nd of the game for Rohlman, who now leads the league with 16 two base hits on the season. Rohlman also extends his lead in the RBI department to 43 on the year.

Jaret Hellinger retired the final 4 batters as he got the first 3 batters he faced to strike out, including a huge strikeout of Francisco Del Valle with the tying run on first base in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Chukars LF Hunter Strong had a good effort, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s 1 BB and 1 run scored. Strong is now batting .344 on the year for Idaho Falls.

The Chukars ended a 3 game losing streak to go to 2-3 in the 2nd half. Game 2 of the 3 game series is Tuesday night at the Home of the Owlz. The Chukars will go with RHP CJ Eldred. He will be opposed by Owlz RHP Johnny Morell. 7:05 pm first pitch.
