Northern Idaho woman killed after crashing into tree

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

LAPWAI — On Sept. 8, at 2:30 a.m., the Idaho State Police responded to a one vehicle fatality crash in the 500 block of Main Street in Lapwai.

Aretha Everett, 44, of Lapwai, was driving a blue 2008 Ford Expedition, southbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed, approaching Bever Road. The vehicle left the roadway, striking a tree head on. Neither Everett or her passenger, Kaliel Day, 21, of Lapwai, were wearing their seatbelts.

Everett succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash. Day was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash. Next of kin has been notified.
