Bundle up, trick-or-treaters! It could snow Wednesday night.

The following is a release from the National Weather Service.

A system Wednesday will bring rain/snow across much of eastern Idaho. Accumulating snow will largely be confined to the eastern/northeastern highlands along the Wyoming border. Some light accumulations are possible elsewhere. Temperatures will be on the cold side Wednesday evening and night. This could impact any outdoor festivities and/or trick or treating in local communities. Winter Weather Advisories may be needed.

WEATHER IMPACTS

High Likelihood:

-Accumulating snow from near Island Park south through the Caribou Range
-Relatively cold temperatures for outdoor Halloween festivities
-Gusty winds reaching up to 20-30 mph in the evening would make cold temperatures feel even colder.
-Light rain and snow across the Central Mountains and along and south of the I-15/I-86 corridor

DETAILS AND TIMING

-Monida Pass to the Tetons south through the Caribou Range
-Snow begins early afternoon overspreading through the evening.
-Traveling over area mountain passes could become difficult at times.
-Daytime temperatures only in the 30s to low 40s will drop into the upper 20s to mid 30s by late evening.

Central Mountains

-Light rain and snow is expected beginning midday Wednesday.
-Snow levels will increase from about 4,000 ft. around midday to about 7,000 ft. by early Thursday morning.
– Light accumulations are possible across the high terrain.

Snake Plain through eastern Magic Valley, and Southern Highlands

-A light mix of rain/snow is possible Wednesday evening.
-Snow levels will actually increase from about 5,000 ft. in the afternoon to about 7,000 ft. early Thursday morning.
-No significant accumulation is expected outside of Emigration Pass.
