AMERICAN FALLS — An inmate walked away from the Power County Jail early Tuesday morning.

Michael Edgar McCann, was on cleaning detail on the jail grounds at around 3 a.m., when he managed to escape the facility. It’s unclear how he managed to walk away.

He was wearing an orange t-shirt and green/white jail pants when he left, but authorities believe McCann has changed his clothes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a “ Double M” logo on the back, green sweatpants and a tan hat, according to a Power County news release.

McCann was in jail for a drug court violation. He had previously been incarcerated on burglary charges.

The inmate has family ties in Pocatello, Idaho and Oregon. If you see McCann or know of his whereabouts, do not approach or make contact. Contact the Power County Sheriff’s Office or your local jurisdiction immediately.
