Ribbon cutting planned for new 7th and Sherman bus stop

The following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.
POCATELLO – The public is invited to a ribbon cutting for the new bus stop at the corner of East Sherman Street and North 7th Avenue.
Thursday, October 18 at 11 a.m. the City of Pocatello will officially open the stop with the help of the Pocatello Chiefs. The stop features new sidewalks and crosswalks, Americans with Disabilities Act compliant ramps, a stormwater retention area, and a new fence.
“This bus stop provides our community with a centralized, fully accessible stop within our transit system,” said Skyler Beebe, Pocatello Regional Transit Director. “It provides a wonderful blueprint for future improvements to our system.”
“This project was a collaboration between several city departments, Bannock Transportation Planning Organization, and Harper Construction,” said Maggie Clark, Project Manager. “This group effort contributed to the overall success of the project by addressing issues of design, construction, operation, and maintenance.”
The total cost of the project was $250,000 with $200,000 coming from an Idaho Transportation Department Elderly and Disabled Grant and $25,000 from the City of Pocatello’s Community Development Block Grant program. The remaining $25,000 was in-kind labor by the City of Pocatello Engineering Department in the form of design, bid, and construction oversight.
