The following is a news release from the Idaho Transportation Department.

BLACKFOOT – Replacement of the Danskin Canal bridge, on U.S. Highway 26 at milepost 303.38 near Blackfoot, began Monday, Nov. 5. Construction will enhance the existing bridge structure, and will include road resurfacing.

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is working with Wadsworth Brothers Construction and Wilson & Company, using a design-build process specifically created to streamline production, reducing time and expenditure.

The Danskin Canal bridge replacement is part of an ITD overhaul project to replace seventeen bridges in eastern Idaho.

“We have worked to maintain mobility on the road during each of these projects throughout the course of construction,” said Bryan Young, ITD Resident Engineer. “We want to make this as easy as possible for everyone.”

Allowable lane widths will be reduced to 12 feet.

Oversized loads traveling through the work zone must contact Young at (208) 745-5682.

Construction for the Danskin Canal bridge will take place in two phases. This phase will not disrupt traffic. Phase Two will begin in February 2019 and traffic will be reduced to one lane, with temporary traffic signals through April 2019.
