REXBURG — A man has been arrested and charged with two sex crimes after he allegedly abused a 14-year-old girl for over five months.

Jose Romulo Tarrillo, 52, is charged with one count of child sex abuse for soliciting a minor child under the age of sixteen years to participate in a sexual act and one count of lewd conduct with a child, according to court documents obtained by EastIdahoNews.com.

The victim and her mother moved into the basement where Tarrillo lived in Sept. 2017 when the alleged abuse began to occur. The teen described to police graphic details of sexual abuse that happened both inside and outside of the home until Feb. 2018.

Tarrillo was booked into the Madison County Jail on $150,000 bond. He pleaded not guilty Monday in District Court before Judge Gregory Moeller. If convicted, Tarrillo faces up to life in prison.
