Netflix adding 101, dropping 42 titles in December

IDAHO FALLS – As Christmas approaches, so does the movie awards season.

Several films are dropping on Netflix in December that may help you prepare for awards season. The streaming service will add 101 titles next month, while 42 will drop from its lineup, according to Netflix.

One notable title coming Dec. 14 is “ROMA,” the latest film from “Gravity” director Alfonso Cuaron. The movie has been touted by some as a front-runner for several Academy Awards.

The eccentric Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos’s new film “The Favourite” debuted last week. Starring Emma Stone, the period piece set in 18th century England also has garnered some pre-awards buzz.

To prepare for “The Favourite,” you can check out Lanthimos’s 2016 film “The Lobster” starting Dec. 2 on Netflix.

If you’re in an awards-season mood, you can also watch “The Theory of Everything” on Netflix starting Dec. 16. The 2014 Stephen Hawking biopic earned Eddie Redmayne an Academy Award for Best Actor.

If you’re a nostalgia fan, you may want to check out several sequels from the “Air Bud” franchise before they drop from Netflix’s lineup Dec. 4. Two sequels from the “Brave Little Toaster” movie series also drop on that date.
