IDAHO FALLS — Police are investigating after swastikas were found painted on a light post and trees at Freeman Park Monday morning.

Officers were called to the park at 1290 Science Center Drive around 11:30 a.m. after receiving reports of vandalism. Police found a red swastika painted on a tree and a light post. The phrase “Kill Them All” was spray painted on another tree.

“There is no physical evidence other than the paint that was left on the pole to assist us in the development of a suspect,” Sgt. Jon Johnson with IFPD says.

This was one of three vandalism cases reported within the city and county Monday. Bonneville County Sheriff deputies are investigating a swastika found painted on a power pole north of Freeman Park on 5th West.

Johnson says police were also called to Pevero Drive where gang graffiti was found painted on a mailbox.

There have been seven reported incidents of vandalism at Freeman Park since 2009, although Johnson says the department rarely see swastika type graffiti.

The Idaho Falls Parks and Rec Department removed the graffiti from the poles and trees Monday.
