The following is a news release from Idaho Falls School District 91.

IDAHO FALLS — Margo Rey, an eight-time Billboard Top 20 recording artist, singer and songwriter will be making a special appearance at Fox Hollow Elementary School’s annual choir concert on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Fox Hollow’s popular after-school choir, the TrebleMakers, will be singing Rey’s original holiday song “This Holiday Night” at its concert in the Eagle Rock auditorium.

That song is reportedly the No. 1 most played original holiday song of the last six years.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our students! They are beyond excited for Rey’s visit and we can’t wait to welcome her on stage to sing “This Holiday Night” with us,” said Becky Rhodes, the director of Fox Hollow’s after-school choir.

As Rhodes was looking for songs for this year’s Christmas concert, she discovered “This Holiday Night.” She reached out to Rey’s publicist to see if she could get permission for the choir to sing the song. Rey herself called Rhodes back. She not only gave the choir permission to sing her song, she face-timed students during rehearsals this week and then expressed interest in coming to Idaho Falls for the show.

More than 60 Fox Hollow students in grades 3 through 6 sing in the TrebleMakers choir.

Students stay after school each week to learn songs, choreography and harmonies until they are performance ready. “The students feel music deeply and sing with their hearts,” Rhodes said.

“Our Fox Hollow choir is an important part of our school community,” said Principal Tammi Utter. “Students who participate have an opportunity to gain musical skills, learn a wide variety of music styles and perform at school and in the community.”
