IDAHO FALLS — EastIdahoNews.com and Idaho Education News are partnering for a regular segment featuring local and statewide education issues.

“Beyond the Books” will provide commentary and analysis on education news in both east Idaho and from across the state. EastIdahoNews.com news director Nate Eaton will host the segment and Devin Bodkin, Idaho Education News’ east Idaho reporter, will appear to discuss topics from policy creation and implementation to best practices in teaching and learning.

In this edition of “Beyond the Books,” Brian Pyper joins the panel. Piper is the Vice Chair of region 6 for the Idaho School Boards Association and currently serves on the Madison School District 321 Board of Trustees.

The discussion for this episode focuses on money issues involving three school systems: a $785,000 fraudulent payment in Teton School District, Shelley High School overspending more than $44,000 and Blackfoot charter school administrators receiving $46,000 in unexplained payments.

Watch the video above for the entire conversation.

If you have an idea for future “Beyond the Books” segments or want to appear on the show to express your opinions, email Devin at DBodkin@IdahoEdNews.org or Nate at NEaton@EastIdahoNews.com.
