Pocatello offering utility payment arrangements for furloughed federal employees


The following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.

With the shutdown of the federal government now over a month long, the City of Pocatello is offering some assistance.

Federal workers who have been impacted by the shutdown are encouraged to contact the City’s Utility Billing Department to make payment arrangements on their account. By making a payment arrangement, they are able to extend the due date of their bill or make partial payments to the account.

“Through no fault of their own, these workers may have fallen on hard times,” said Mayor Brian Blad. “This is a simple way that our City can provide them with a little help and show our support.”

A payment arrangement can be made by sending an email to utilities@pocatello.us, visiting the Utility Billing office at 911 N. 7th Avenue during business hours, or by placing a note in one of the Utility Billing drop boxes. Arrangements are pending until accepted by the Utility Billing office and the resident receives notification.

“I would encourage all business in Pocatello to find a way to lend a helping hand and work with federal employees,” said Mayor Blad.
