Winter weather advisory until Monday; two highways closed

ASHTON — Several highways are closed as a winter storm moves through eastern Idaho.
U.S. Highway 20 is closed between Ashton and the Montana state line due to blowing snow that is drifting onto the highway. Visibility is poor and both directions are closed to all traffic.
The same is true for Idaho Highway 87. It is closed from the junction of US 20 to the Montana State line.
It’s unknown when either road will reopen, but the Idaho Transportation Department is monitoring conditions closely.
Most of eastern Idaho is receiving some snow Sunday, but several areas are being more severely impacted. There is a winter weather advisory in effect for the following communities: Island Park, Dubois, Ashton, Mud Lake, Arco, Mackay, Challis, Hailey, Bellevue, Picabo, Preston, Montpelier, Soda Springs, Henry, Bone, and Victor.
These higher elevation areas are forecast to get between 5 to 10 inches of snow on Sunday and Monday until at least midday. Some areas may see snow until 6 p.m. Monday.
