Local counseling clinic collecting donations for food drive

IDAHO FALLS — A local counseling clinic is trying to provide its clients with food for Christmas by hosting its first-ever food drive.

The staff at Tueller Counseling Services — which has locations in Idaho Falls, Rexburg and Rigby — are collecting food donations for the next few days, and they are asking for help from the community.

“Due to COVID-19 there have not been as many resources for families this holiday season as there have been in years past,” Tanna Faler, an office staff member who’s helping oversee the project, told EastIdahoNews.com. “Tueller Counseling Services got together and decided we wanted to do a food drive to give back to the community this holiday season.”

The company has a goal to gather enough items to fill 80 food boxes by Dec. 14, and then deliver them to those in need the following day. Right now, Faler estimates they have donations to fill around 55 boxes.

Each box will contain a ham or turkey, packages of processed potatoes and some fresh potatoes, stuffing, corn, green beans, roll vouchers, a frozen pie or nonperishable dessert as well as hygiene supplies, masks and hand sanitizer.

She said they are still in need of specific items such as hams, frozen pies or nonperishable deserts. They are also accepting monetary donations to buy those needed items for the boxes.

Faler is grateful for the businesses and community members who have already made donations, and she hopes more people will have the desire to do the same.

“Growing up, our family was really big on serving the community,” Faler said. “And I want to do that for others with my generation and promote what the Christmas spirit is like, and help out people where we can.”

Donations can be dropped off at the following Tueller Counseling locations:

Idaho Falls: 2275 West Broadway Street

Rigby: 295 North 3855 East

Rexburg: 343 East 4th North, Suite 231
