UPDATE:

IDAHO FALLS — An Idaho Falls woman who threatened to stab a family member was sentenced Friday.

Lylliana Alvarado was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges of disturbing the peace and petty theft. Alvarado had been charged with felony aggravated assault, but as part of a plea agreement, the charge was reduced to the misdemeanor disturbing the peace charge.

The petty theft charge came from Alvarado stealing small items from a local grocery store before the disturbance.

In addition to the time on probation, Magistrate Judge Steven Gardner also ordered Alvarado to pay $515 in fees and fines, according to court records.

ORIGINAL STORY:

IDAHO FALLS — A local woman has been charged with felony aggravated assault for allegedly trying to stab a family member.

Police reports show at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Lylliana Alvarado, 21, was arrested by Bonneville County Sheriff deputies after causing a disturbance at a local home.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Alvarado became upset after a family member would not let her stay at their house. The home’s occupants alleged Alvarado had been using drugs, and as a result, she was not welcome in the home.

During an argument that followed, Alvarado allegedly grabbed a red Milwaukee brand razor knife from her pants and threatened to kill a family member who lived at the home.

Another family member disarmed Alvarado before deputies arrived. Deputies arrested Alvarado and took her to the Bonneville County Jail, where she remains held on $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 11.

Although Alvarado is charged with a crime, it does not necessarily mean she committed it. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

If convicted of felony aggravated assault, a judge could order Alvarado to spend up to five years in prison.
