Zoo Idaho in Pocatello to host free admission day Saturday

POCATELLO — Zoo Idaho in Pocatello is offering the chance for patrons to see bears in its new grizzly habitat, as well as many other animals indigenous to southeast Idaho — all for free.

Connections Credit Union will host Community Day at Zoo Idaho Saturday, according to a news release from the city. The zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and all in attendance will also receive hot dogs and beverages.

“What a great way to end the summer, with the return of Connections Credit Union’s annual Community Day,” Zoo Idaho Superintendent Peter Pruett said in the release. “It’s Connections Credit Union, the Zoo Idaho Zoological Society, and Zoo Idaho’s way of saying thank you to the entire community for everything you do to make Pocatello a wonderful place to live.”

Saturday’s events will be part of a 10-year partnership between Connections Credit Union and Zoo Idaho and the Zoo Idaho Zoological Society. Along with past events, like previous free admission days, Connections has also been influential in the development of the Zoo Connections Entrance and Gift Shop, which the zoo and zoological society are hopeful will open soon.

“Who doesn’t like a day at the zoo and who doesn’t like free,” President and CEO of Connections Credit Union Brian Osberg said in the release. “This is a fantastic opportunity to bring the family out and see all the great things happening at Zoo Idaho.”
