A therapist who is helping a mom hear her son speak for the first time is honored for Feel Good Friday

EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.

We recently received an email from a woman named Cherise. She wrote:

Our speech therapist has spent over a year trying to help our 4-year-old talk and after being told by two doctors that there’s nothing to be done, she persevered and got him an appointment at Primary Children’s Hospital. After today’s appointment, we have answers and a surgery scheduled.

Without her dedication, I would not have found a solution and I would continue to try to understand my son but never understand exactly what he was saying. My 33rd birthday is March 30 and surgery is scheduled for March 29 on this palette flap reconstruction…It is the best birthday present in the world to finally be able to talk to my son.

His speech therapist – Emily Palmer at Connections Therapy – was the key and she is a godsend to my family. Her countless hours in therapy and searching and researching ways to help him into the wee hours of the night. She needs to be recognized for the dedicated service she provides in the community.

We decided to thank Emily for what she’s done and showed up while she was working. Watch the surprise in the video player above!
