IDAHO FALLS — A 39-year-old Idaho Falls man was arrested after a woman said he put drugs inside of her during a sexual encounter.

James Meuzelaar is charged with felony aggravated sexual battery.

According to court documents, an Idaho Falls Police detective met with a woman who reported that she had been sexually assaulted by Meuzelaar.

The victim stated that on Sept. 18, she agreed to meet with Meuzelaar after speaking with him for “several days” over a social media app.

After meeting, Meuzelaar allegedly started talking about his “prior use of methamphetamine.” The two went to Meuzelaar’s house, and according to the victim, Meuzelaar “produced a little bag that contained what she described as ‘white rocks,’ but (Meuzelaar) had told her it was Adderall.”

Police reports say Meuzelaar began using the suspected methamphetamine by “crushing it up, liquifying it and ‘sticking it into his arm.'”

According to the victim, Meuzelaar told her to “get naked and asked if he could ‘shove’ some of the substance into her, and she said no and that she wanted to stay clean.”

During a sexual encounter, the victim says Meuzelaar asked again, and she again said no.

Meuzelaar then allegedly stated, “Too bad, I already did it.”

The victim again said she didn’t want to do that but said she then felt a “burning sensation” in her genitals and anus. Court documents say she stood up, and a “rock” fell out of her.

On Sept. 20, the victim went to Idaho Falls Community Hospital where she tested positive for methamphetamine. The victim told police she has never used methamphetamine, and court documents say she had no documented history of methamphetamine use.

The detective met with Meuzelaar on Oct. 16, and he allegedly admitted to recently using methamphetamine and stated he “uses it for sexual purposes.”

Officers showed Meuzelaar a photo of the victim. He said he remembered her and “recalled her coming to his home” and that they “both mutually used methamphetamine that he provided and that this was not forced on (the victim).”

Meuzelaar did reportedly admit that the victim initially said no to using meth but told the detective that later, the victim asked to “take a hit.”

He then allegedly admitted to using it during their sexual encounter.

The detective then asked if the victim had brought any drugs with her, and Meuzelaar said no.

When asked if he “shoved methamphetamine” inside the victim, Meuzelaar said that was “crazy and he would never do that because it could cause a lot of damage” to the victim.

A warrant was issued for Meuzelaar’s arrest of Feb. 27, and on Monday, he was arrested and booked into the Bonneville County Jail with a $15,000 bond. He was released later that day on his “own recognizance.”

A no-contact order was issued for the victim.

Meuzelaar is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing Wednesday. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.

Though Meuzelaar has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
