Former Gen. Vijay Kumar Singh posted to Twitter saying that 821 people were brought back and sent to India, and that “all who wished to go were evacuated and no one was left at airport.” The evacuation was apparently briefly delayed by a bombing, but was eventually able to continue on an altered route.

The U.S. Embassy in Sana’a suspended operations and removed its staff in February, but said earlier this week there were no plans for a government-coordinated evacuation of U.S. citizens. The embassy made citizens aware of opportunities to evacuate on a flight organized by the International Organization for Migration earlier this week.

On Thursday, the U.S. Embassy noted that an Indian naval vessel would leave Hodeidah, Yemen on Thursday night, and that U.S. citizen families would be allowed to board and depart for Djibouti.

Two days ago, Singh said that at least 90 foreign nationals were evacuated from the country.
