Carroll Pitcher Davis

April 1st, 1933 - January 13th, 2023

Carroll passed away quietly, Friday morning, January 13, 2023, in Roswell, New Mexico, at the age of 89.

Born in Smithfield, Utah, on April Fool’s Day, April 1, 1933, to George and Jennivie (Jen) Pitcher, Carroll is the eldest of their six children. Her parents moved the family to Idaho, living in several areas before settling in Iona where she would meet, and later marry, her high school sweetheart, Arthur (Art) Thomas Davis, in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 14, 1951.

Her many hobbies include sewing, gardening, cooking, reading, golfing, boating, and attending rodeos with Art. Spoiling her dogs with too many treats and taking them on walks was another of her favorite pastime. Carroll was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many different callings in her ward and stake. An avid lover of genealogy, she spent countless hours working on her computer indexing names and records.

Although she was never a career woman, Carroll was, most importantly, a wonderful and very special mother who would do anything for her children, happily volunteering throughout the years as a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, and anything else they required or needed. For a brief time, she worked at the IGA in Rigby and at Grand Central in Idaho Falls. At ZCMI in the Grand Teton Mall, she worked as a gift wrapper for several years, and always had impeccably wrapped gifts for her children and grandchildren.

In the fall of 2016, Carroll and Art moved from their longtime home in Iona to Roswell, New Mexico to be near family, but Iona would always be their true home.

She is survived by her four children: James Arthur Davis (Debbianne) of Orem, Utah; Kathy Willis (Barry) of Roseville, California; Phil George Davis (Wendolyn) of Roswell, New Mexico; Kari Ann Kimball (Lonnie) of St. George, Utah. Seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren call her grandma.

Carroll is preceded in death by Art, in 2017, three weeks shy of their 66th wedding anniversary; her parents, George and Jen; her sister, Colleen Pitcher; her brother, George “Buzz” Parley Pitcher III; and her great-grandson, Zac Willis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., February 11, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4707 E. Iona Road. The family will visit with friends and family from 6-8:00 p.m., February 10, 2023, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Iona Cemetery.
