Donna Waters

Donna Jane Waters, 95, of Ammon, passed away March 26, 2023, at her daughter’s home. She was under the care of her loving family and Encompass Hospice.

Donna was born September 16, 1927, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to James Arthur Hancock and Thelma Jane Goodson Hancock. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She also attended Western Union in Santa Cruz where she received her Teleprinter certification.

On January 11, 1947, she married Ralph Lee Arave in Dillon, Montana. They were blessed with a daughter, Sandy.

Donna married Norman LaMond “Monte” Waters on February 12, 1972, in Idaho Falls. Donna and Monte made their home in Idaho Falls where Donna worked as a bookkeeper and retired from Harris Publishing in Idaho Falls. She also managed Whittier Apartments for several years.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, bowling, and spending time with family. She was also very active in Idaho State Grange.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Sandy Herrera of Ammon, ID; son, Gary (Linda) Waters of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Monte (Sherry) Waters of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Sandy Steele of Ogden, UT; 14 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 78 great-great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Thelma Hancock; daughters, Betty Jean (Wade) Campbell and Kay (Don) Ball; sister, Lenore Petersen; 3 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Comore Loma Ward, 4375 E. Sunnyside Road, with Bishop Sean Finch officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
