Elva Beck Jay

One of 11 children born to Ira Elias Beck and Delilah Beddes Beck, Elva graduated from South Fremont High School, St. Anthony, ID in 1954. She had loving connections with all of her siblings: LaRae Beck Hanson, Iris Beck Birch, Ira Alan Beck, Jack Beck, Jay Beck, Valeen Beck Turner, Janeice Beck Kirkham, Ted Beck, Bill Beck and Patsy Beck Ostermiller. Til the end, she adored all of her nieces and nephews, each who were her favorites!

Elva had a 33 year career with the Forest Service, with positions in Idaho, California and Oregon.

Marrying David Jay in 1980provided many new adventures! They traveled extensively for Rotary International and personal interest, visiting 60 countries in their 42 year partnership. Retiring at age 55, they purchased and developed a piece of property and built their dream home on “The Ridge”, with a spectacular view of the Lewis and Columbia Rivers outside of La Center, WA. Here they hosted family gatherings, local and foreign Rotarians, and spontaneous moments with their dear neighborhood friends.

She is predeceased by her much loved Dave, parents, 8 siblings, grandson Stephen, and 5 adored dogs. Missing her are her children from her marriage to Fred Hedge, Lisa Kamachi of La Center, WA and Mark (Carole) Hedge of Las Vegas, NV, brother Bill and sister Patsy, Dave’s children and spouses (Gayle and Jonah Jimenez, Diane and Phil Clay, Jim and Kelli Jay, Russ and Tina Jay) ,13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, Dave’s extended family and many friends.
