Everett Alois Mueller

September 17th, 1933 - September 9th, 2022

Everett Alois Mueller was born September 17, 1933 to Albert and Coletta Mueller in Pocatello, Idaho. He had 5 older siblings; Charles Mueller, Phil Mueller, Evelyn Strupp, Blanche Buck, and Lola Anderson Ayers. They were a big influence in his life; playing sports, working hard, and having fun together. He helped his family with the family butcher shop in Rigby, and there was given the nickname, ‘Butch’; which he was known by for most of his life. He was a devoted son and brother; helping his mother for many years.

Everett played American Legion baseball and traveled with the team. He graduated from Rigby High School and was given scholarships to play football at Western Montana College in Dillon. He always said that was much harder to play with the ‘big boys’. He left school and married Janice Hansen November 27, 1951.

He got a job working for Mountain Bell and they moved to Colorado while in his early years. He worked many long hours and was a telephone repairman. They moved back to Rigby, where they raised 5 children; Rhonda (Dennis) Merrill, Barbara (Kelly) Hart, Brent, deceased (Almedis) Mueller, Nancy (Kim) Hansen, and Becky (Doug) Johnson.

He loved to hunt and fish and had many lifelong friends with the same interests. He loved dogs, especially ‘bird’ dogs and trained several. They were obedient and devoted to him.

He loved to garden and always had a big, beautiful garden. He shared produce with anyone that would stop by. He loved apples, peaches, nectarines, pears, raspberries that he would grow each year in his orchard.

He was a hard worker and would tackle all jobs. He could fix most everything. He loved farming and ranching and had a farm at one time. He kept a small herd of black angus cows for many years.

He was always ready to help someone else and had a strong work ethic. He retired from Mountain Bell at 53 in 1986. He and other friends began Phonecom and he worked there until 1991.

He loved his family and loved to play jokes and pranks on everyone. He called his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids ‘kiddo’. They have a cabin at Palisades and loved spending time there.

He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when he was 80 years old and was sealed to his wife and family a year later on August 20, 2015 in the Rexburg, Idaho Temple.

He has had many trials in his life; in 2017 he was diagnosed with cancer and was able to receive treatment that allowed him to travel, play and visit family for extended years.

A viewing will be held Sept. 16, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3900 E. County Line Road at 6:30-8:00 p.m. The viewing will also be held at 10:00 a.m. September 17, 2022 and followed at 11:00 by the services. Interment at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
