Jacob Earl Goodson

Jacob Earl Goodson, 96, of Ammon passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at his home. He was under the care of Enhabit Hospice.

Earl was born October 21, 1926, to Jacob William Goodson and Maud L. Horman Goodson in Idaho Falls. They were pleasantly surprised when he came with a twin.

Earl grew up in St. Leon, Taylor, and Ammon areas. He attended Ammon High School, graduating in May 1944. After high school, he went on to college and received his bachelor’s degree in Social Science and a Secondary Education teaching certificate from Ricks College. Earl served in the United States Navy and was stationed at the Farragut Naval Hospital in Northern Idaho.

On June 22, 1947, Earl married Marian I. Cromwell in Rigby, Idaho. They lived in Idaho Falls and settled in Ammon. Marian passed away on May 4, 2017. Earl worked in construction during college, he later worked at Firestone Tire Store, was a department manager for Sears, at Met Life Insurance, and as the Warehouse Manager at Cal Stores.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he served in many callings including the Scouting program. He enjoyed camping, gardening, traveling, and driving for Enterprise Rent-A-Car after he retired. He was quite the prankster.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Daniel) Ruddell of Ammon, Idaho; sons: Neil Goodson of Ammon, Idaho and Terry Goodson of Fairfield, California; sisters: Ruth Payne and Carolyn Hunter; brother, Gary Goodson; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian I. Goodson; his son, Steven E. Goodson; sisters: Eva Cook, Melva Fox, Wilma Mitchell, Marie Drollinger, and Joan Fielding; and a brother, William Dale Goodson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Ammon 4th Ward, 3000 Central Ave, Ammon, Idaho. Services will be broadcasted live via facebook.com/coltrinmortuary. The family will meet with friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
